For Sarah O., an important lesson from time in full-time ministry, is to be present to where people are. Likewise, to help people identify crucial interpersonal, emotional and spiritual issues that challenge their ability fully embrace life. All of which requires strengthened empathic listening skills.
Moreover, fifteen years at home with her kids, has taught Sarah O. the value of presence. Mothering has taught her to be attentive through the various developmental stages of her children, while developing her patience and perseverance in the face of challenges. Above all, nurturing her children has taught Sarah O. how to nurture others.
In being present for others, Sarah has learned to be present to the needs of self. Over the years she has learned to be more attentive to self-care through reading, running, being in nature and gardening. Through her own journey to love, lead and care for self, she is better able to love, lead and care for others.
